Hotkeys overriden by ms-gamingoverlay

05 Oct 2019, 06:23

On a new (actually, refurbished) computer running Win 10 Professional, I have several fundamental problems.

#1: Many of my shortcuts (both those using the Win key and those with the Alt key) bring up the XBox game bar (why?). I managed to uninstall that with the tips from https://gist.github.com/joshschmelzle/04c57d957c5bb92e85ae9180021b26dc. But ...

... now instead I get a dialog
You'll need a new app to open this ms-gamingoverlay [...]
How can I get rid of this stuff so that my computer accepts the hotkeys defined via AHK?

(There was a related question two years ago, but it received no answer: How can I block Windows ms-gamingoverlay Hotkeys.)

Update: Using a different version of AHK, which solved my other problem, didn't fix this one.
