time to move on v2?

05 May 2020, 04:14

Hi,

When is time to move on v2 of Autohotkey?

Will be there support for Chrome or only trough Selenium like in v1?

I mean v2 have a lot of changes every few weeks so it is difficulty to catch up things.

Thanks,

up to u to decide

if u mean browser automation, very unlikely. if there would be, would there also be for Firefox? IE? Opera? etc insert random browser here? i think thats best left to dedicated middleware specializing in this

cant say thats true, the last update was 6 months ago. that said, things do change, so if ure looking for a write&forget project that will keep on compiling through updates, v2 is probably not the best choice. then again, software is never write&forget. only dead software is.

Hi @swagfag ,

Thank you for your answers.

Ok, then my only question after your answer is how usable are functions from v1 or do someone working to transfer them to v2?

Thank you,

depends on the function, when it was written and how. i dont expect many class/object based implementations given the "recent" changes to work out of the box workout a major rewrite.
most majorly DllCall implementations probably could work with minor tweaks here and there

there isnt a party specifically working on porting v1 libraries to v2. the onus is on the author/user

You could report is as a false positive to the respective AV vendor - it's more like a "hail mary" attempt, but sometimes it works (at least until the release of the next version).

Thanks,

I sent them to remove Autohotkey (v1 and v2) from their block list and esspecially last download link for v2.

We will see the results :)
