Forum structure

30 Sep 2013, 14:49

I think it is necessary to parallel the forum structure that used to exist in the autohotkey.com forum. Namely these sections are missing:
  • Wish List
  • Bug Reports
  • Announcements (very important!)
  • Utilities
  • General Chat
  • Staff
Perhaps it is also a good idea to have separate gaming forums so that all the 'WoW MaCrO ReCoIL 100% W0RKING' posts don't clutter the main community.

IIRC, phpbb3 has support for sub forums. I could be wrong.
There should be a couple Games subforums like the other site.

If/when the "Utilities" and "Programming" subforums are created here, I think they should be renamed so as to avoid confusion that seems to have become prevalent at the current forums. Something like this:
Other Utilities
Discuss other great software and utilities that can improve digital life.

Other Programming Languages
Discuss other programming languages besides AHK.

Don't forget to enable the "quick reply" option for the new forums.
All other forums have it enabled and it's more comfortable.

I'll add the game sections now.

So at the moment without a copy of the DB it is going to be ugly. What we are working on is turning into some static content that is searchable. Several attempts for me to download and extract an archive that was created of static content has gone badly. we aren't giving up

I downloaded it succesfully and i'm currently parsing it into readable static content.
I think i'll finish the archive and the php search script today.

Do these forums offer the ability to mark a topic/forum as read without first going into it?

About readability, "deutsh" forum should be showed like a subforum in a "other language" section and not expanded in the default forum page.
I have nothing against ohter language but that create a soup, and other language can be easly added without kill eyes, all in same website and more attractive...

Autohotkey
- ask for help
--- gaming
- scripts and functions
--- gaming
- ...
- ...
General
- Offtopic
- ...
- ...
Other language
- Deutsh
--- Ich brauche Hilfe
--- ...
--- ...
- ...

I don't like english hegemony and I am french, I don't think I am rude with the german forum

Does anyone know what it would take to get the code formatting back to the way Chris originally had it on this type of forum? It wasn't perfect but at least you could distinguish code from comments.

Poly disallowing color tags inside code tags was one of his more destructive acts.
