- It would be good to have a clear thread somewhere, to invite people to be the new mod for the forum.
- Similarly, the thread could be a good way to invite people to start up new language forums, for languages not currently represented.

I think that out of respect for Chinese AHK users, who can be from anywhere in the world, it should be posted somewhere that a moderator is needed. Because a Chinese speaker might just browse through quickly, see a blank forum and say to himself, "Oh, that was weird. Zero posts." Then just keep going. And if they are bilingual, might think they will just use the English forum and call it a day. Versus maybe advertising on the Chinese Forum that you are looking for moderators. Possibly underneath the title. So that the reason for the Forum being blank would be crystal clear.

We are not recruiting an unknown user as a moderator. It would have to be an established bilingual forum member

That was a bad idea to delete the Chinese forum. The contents in there are still usefull for Chinese users. I don't see any harmful posts so far, so I suggest at least make it read only.

It's not deleted, it is just hidden. I think read-only would be better too...
@tmplinshi do you think you could moderate the chinese forum? are you comfortable with chinese?

@garry, @tmplinshi, I agree with you both.

And Google translate works well - ImTranslator works even better and has inline translation.

At least one very useful script has now vanished, due to this - one by feiyue, who has been more than generous in providing us with FindText (I'm referring to AHK Encryptor v. 2.7). It isn't available from the Internet Archive, either. Google thinks it still exists at this forum.

Frankly, I don't understand the logic of restricting past content because no present moderator is available.

@garry, thank you, I snagged it. There really is lots of good code in that forum, I hope it doesn't stay dormant too long.

Oh thats an oversight on our part- this has been fixed.
Guest viewers now wont be able to view the forum either.
We are not restricting past content only - people have been posting in that forum even after barely any mod activity.
Without an active moderator that is well versed in the language the forum will stay locked.
If there are any specific scripts that you need or want to apply for the moderator position feel free to leave a message.

I think it might be better to mirror the scripts in another software that we install on this forum.
We could make hosting and distributing of the scripts easier and also make it possible to access the scripts when the forum is inaccessible.
The search and tagging options of phpBB are abysmal and it isn't really suited to host scripts.

I think making Chinese forum reading only is much better than hidden all contents before finding a reliable moderator. You know there are still a lot of people using or learning ahk by Chinese forum. It is unfair to them just because of the moderator Vacancy. If the Administrator worry about the content virsus, we can call on the users to review the content and report it. I don't think cutting the access to the forum is a good way to this problem.

@lx930129, I agree with you. I also think it would be good to put a *sticky* topic at the top of the Chinese forum, letting people know that a moderator is needed before people can post again.

@joedf, thank you. Maybe add something like this? Not sure if it's 100% idiomatic, but I think it's pretty close. Someone will let me know :D
