Slow forum
Slow forum
For me (in Middle Europe) the forum is very slow tonight.
Are we perhaps under attack again?
Edit: Now that I have finally made a post about it, it is suddenly quite snappy. So far, so good!

Re: Slow forum
It was slow in California as well. It seems to have improved in the last hour or so.
14.3 & 1.3.7
Re: Slow forum
Thanks for the additional datapoint.
Currently, it's still okay here.

Re: Slow forum
I heard about it this morning, but by the time I checked it was snappy, might be some of the stuff I did that stopped them from continuing. But I'll be going thru logs to try understand the attack later

Re: Slow forum
Thank you, tank, for looking into it!
Re: Slow forum
I am again experiencing longer periods of a very slow forum.
Re: Slow forum
I've turned on "under attack" mode for now.

Re: Slow forum
For the last ~24 hours it is very slow for me here in Eastern Europe
Re: Slow forum
I too, came here to report the slowness. I'm in Washington State, near Seattle. Has been slow for a few days and is progressively getting worse. Occurs on Chrome and FireFox. It is even worse on my Kindle File.
I keep seeing this CloudFire message (on Windows and on Kindle).

Re: Slow forum
The Cloudflare message comes up because joedf has activated the 'under attack' mode. But this time, that mode doesn't seem to have solved the slow forum problem. It's still coming and going. More coming than going for me, unfortunately.
Re: Slow forum
For me it's improved somewhat, but yes slow at times. not sure whats going on. This is more difficult to solve than just a crash/shutdown... so many factors
no bandwidth spikes that seem out of the ordinary...

Re: Slow forum
I think the general slowness has improved here. I still have to get scanned by CloudFlare each time, but other than that it it okay. Unfortunately, CloudFlare is (apparently) not able to confirm that Silk Browser, on my Kindle Fire is legit. It just scans it over and over and never lets autohotkey.com connect.kunkel321 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2023, 18:40I too, came here to report the slowness. I'm in Washington State, near Seattle. Re: Slow forum
I am going to cycle the servers, not seeing any abnormal traffic patterns

Re: Slow forum
I looked up Cloudflare's "under attack mode" (UAM) , but couldn't find anything definitive about it.
The experience I'm having is that while browsing and reading posts, the first dozen or so (maybe more, maybe less) are very snappy. Then it starts bogging down. At first, 5 to 10 seconds to refresh. The delays seem to get longer the more you fight through it. If I then give it a rest for an indeterminate period of time (10 - 30 min), the responsiveness comes back, only to repeat the pattern.
Is it possible that the UAM tracks the IP addresses of those accessing it and if the same IP hits the site a certain number of times within a given time frame, it slows it down for that IP?
I may be all wet, but it sure seems like that is what is happening - to me at least.

Re: Slow forum
The "under attack" mode does not really help. As before, all autohotkey.com links open initially with a delay. Subsequent links open without delay. Using the forum or the docs is currently a pain.
I hope this "under attack" mode will not stay forever, because it has many disadvantages. What I noticed:
It prevents new changes to the docs from being visible. The responsible server script seems to have problems to transfer the GitHub files to the server. This is also e.g. the reason why we still see v2.0.4 in the online docs.
The "confirm you are not a bot" prompt prevents the correct autohotkey.com files from being downloaded via code. Instead, the "confirm you are not a bot" page is downloaded. For example:
Package managers like Chocolatey will fail to download the AutoHotkey installer.
The forum channel in Discord no longer lists newly created forum topics.
