I just type auto-hotkey.com in the address bar (omnibox)

eg with short-url
With redirect --> type ahk.com --> open site auto-hotkey.com
(faster to connect and easier to remember)
Total agreement.

Yes, it is cool but hard to script, that will need to use and wait a DNS and need a real dedicated server. I saw a guy to do this on debian and it is not easy or simple, but all possibilities have to be thought. Paradox, I know this kind of thing but it is again out of my knowledge/expertise...

Else they are a lot of optimization and request to do when we are ready :(
https://support.google.com/webmasters
http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster

That let me think to use a kind of http://www.phpbb-seo.com/en/ to rewrite url with page title (dunno if it is good, Poly forum used something like this), and that will partially solve http://auto-hotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=110 . Or perhaps better to do a URL rewriting with htaccess ? Or just add an optional title parameter to the end of the current url ?

Archive may deference us too (because of cloning), we will see... or move to a archive.ahkscript.org , I haven't see alibaba solution, I don't know...

Actually;
from a pure reroute standpoint. forwarding is not so hard. but true load balance and mirroring is another story I have seen part of Alibaba's work and he says he has already worked out the links in those pages. i like the archive subdomain idea. extremely easy to do.

Making it searchable and ignoring the html will be the trick. I have some ideas but i need to test out performance once the full content is available to me. One idea involves an implementation of Mango. and other will involve using Linux native file searches. and another yet will be to build a word index for each file into a mysql db the word index will probably be filtered with Porter Stemmer to keep things like "a" and "the" out of it. I have a few others as well. building search also requires a ranking algorithm for results.

blah blah blah no big words in my posts let you all think of me as something other than a hot headed simpleton :P

I'm also currently working on that. Sorry if i'm stealing your work ;)
I did not mention, that the parsing script also created an index where all threads are assigned to the words in their titel and the keywords from their html Meta tag.
It's currently only a big bunch of text files but i'm trying to make a database out of it.

If you want i can upload the whole index, once the current upload is done, but it's another 200MB...

Not as other webadmin tool of google and bing who need an account, an alternative is to use http://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url, but use it only one time and wait some days, only if all methods fail...

@Alibaba Its a good start and if its done and workable we will go with it at least at first. I was going to skip keywords and actually go for full text. As with all things programming there isn't a right answer here. its a matter of performance and result. there is no such thing as done just being improved upon or stable. If the performance isn't noticeably bad i probably wont bother at all anytime soon. but yes upload it also if you don't mind. once your done uploading i need to correct on the server your FTP path that i botched. (but it works) so that it exists in the proper doc-root. don't worry it takes seconds to move it, i just dont want to touch it while your uploading

Hi bro, i think will be useful to summarize the various domains situation in the OP. Something like this:

autohotkey.com - owned by poly, to be deprecated
auto-hotkey.com - actual temporary domain, owned by tank
autohotkey.org - ???
ahkscript.org - not owned, being evaluated as final domain

etc. etc.

This will help the members that cannot follow the discussion and clear the domain chaos a little.

For new and potential users, having the words autohotkey in the url is kind of essential.
I watched a video from Hak5 recently and they referred to it as such.
It made me realize that most people would be more familiar with the full name.

But we are stuck, autohotkey word will reference autohotkey.com in a high priority and a lot of people want a shortcut word.
Me too I want this kind of thing but it is unreal :(

Always the same problem = Poly narcissism... We are on Poly private company server without backup to community, as a hostage (that break licence and mindset of some script hosted). A free thing can be stolen, that is why they are licence for opensource, in other words Poly start an illegal activity because the program and the name autohotkey in the part of his specification are licenced... Chris or Lexikos can start to call lawyers, just for theft and usurpation...

Could be a way to dethrone poly.

I am fairly confident "ahkscript" is our best option. It is good on many levels.
