Thank you @Hellbent !

@Bugz000 suggested I make the toolbar customizable. Here it is:

- v5.8.7 (2023-02-07)
- [new] users can now customize the toolbar; a dedicated panel allows users to add/remove icons in the toolbar, for the image view and thumbnails/list modes
- [new] viewer mode toolbar; activated by default; in this mode, only common actions for an image viewer are shown
- [new] option to import clipboard image as an alpha mask
- bug fixes

- users can now adjust the gradient offset for radial and box gradients; to adjust the gradient center, users can Alt+Click and drag in the gradient preview area
- transformed the checkbox option to crop the image [found in the JPEG lossless operations panel], into a drop down option
- when collapsing a panel, a compact sensical bar appears, instead of displaying a tiny corner of the initial window

New release. It seems minor, but the fixes are rather important ...

- [new] the object can be blured in the «Fill selected area» panel
- various bug fixes and improvements:
- fixed issues related to toolbar positioning, when attached to the main window
- fixed dark mode menus on Win11
- fixed «crop image to viewport selection», regression since v5.9.3
- fixed menu item «Zoom 100%»
- reimplemented image scrolling in the viewport when «allow image panning outside the viewport» is activated; it is now much smoother
- the viewport info-box is no longer being hidden when the QPV main window is deactivated
- the panel collapsed widget icons are now of the same size as the main toolbar
- now, when the selection area is small, the dots get small as well; the mid-center rotation dot also hides

- [new] painting with symmetry is now possible with the eraser and effects brushes as well

- [new] option to swap layer A with layer B for the non-commutative blending modes
- fixed regressions since version v5.9.3; add noise, detect edges filters were malfunctioning
- various other bug fixes

I would say it is an important release because it fixes very stupid, ugly bugs... and painting with blending modes; it is very nice .

Here's a new version of my image viewer:

- v5.9.89 (2023-09-20)
- [new] tool to create thumbnail sheets, highly customizable; can output image sheets of up to 715 megapixels
- fixed GIF frames extraction; when multiple files were selected, GIFs were skipped
- fixed the button «Process images» from the «Panel resize images». It was not working with fewer than 100 files.
- various bug fixes related to how QPV handles very large images
- overhauled the tool to convert image formats; it now tries to preserve color depths
- fixes related to drag-n-drop

Lots of work under the hood...
