After installing SciTE4AutoHotkey I lose Explorer right-click options

Post by scott_coder » 03 Mar 2024, 07:24

Hello all

I've used Notepad as my editor for some time but just installed SciTE4AutoHotkey (3.1.00)

After installing SciTE4AutoHotkey:

1) Double clicking a .ahk file opens the script for editing (previously double clicking would run the script)
2) Right clicking on a .ahk file no longer gives any options (e.g. Run Script, Edit Script, Compile, Compile with GUI, etc)

Is this what happens after installing SciTE4AutoHotkey or has something gone wrong with my installation?

Thanks
Scott

Worked out how to fix this.

The solution was to uninstall and reinstall AHK from scratch. All the right-click options (Edit Script, Compile etc) then reappeared.

In hindsight, when I installed SciTE it became the default program to open ahk files. I wonder if, rather than reinstalling AHK, simply changing the file association back to AHK may have fixed the problem too.

Hope this helps others in future.
