Trying to diagnose a weird problem (not relevant here) I uninstalled and reinstalled AutoHotkey V. 1.1.33.10 on my Windows 11 Home computer. Now when I try to run AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe i get the error:
C:\Program Files\AutoHotkey\AutoHotkeyU64_UlA.exe
A referral was returned from the server.
How to get this program to work or any other way to use AHK in programs requiring administrator privileges?
AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error
AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error

Reason: Topic moved from "AHK v2 Help", since it is an AHK v1 question.

Re: AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error
has it ever worked on that win11 pc before?
Re: AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error
Yes, it worked fine until today when I did the uninstall/reinstall. Note that the AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe file did not show up in the reinstall zip folder. I copied it into my AutoHotkey folder from a recent image I had saved . The version number 1.1.33.10 is identical to the AHK version I have just reinstalled.

You have to run the AutoHotkey Installer with the appropriate options to set this up properly.
My scripts:-
XRef - Produces Cross Reference lists for scripts
ReClip - A Text Reformatting and Clip Management utility
ScriptGuard - Protects Compiled Scripts from Decompilation
I also maintain Ahk2Exe

Re: AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error
Thank you. That would have been a lot easier than what I did. I solved it by manually setting AutoHotkeyU64.exe in the Compatibility tab to Run as Administrator and then used Task Scheduler to get it to run on Startup with having to confirm with the UAC screen. In any case, I got it working. Thanks again for the help.
Re: AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe generates error
I had to do a system Restore to address an unrelated problem which undid some of my previous fixes. So this time I ran the installer and it added the AutoHotkeyU64_UIA.exe file to deal with using AHK in applications requiring Administrator privileges. BUT because that file requires UAC confirmation to run, it wouldn't load at Startup (as it did previously). So I had to set up a script in Task Scheduler to get it to run on logon.
