Forum becomes very slow after reading just a few modifications.

Post by Helgef » 25 Apr 2021, 01:28

Hi.

I have many notifications and after just reading a few, maybe five, the loading time for each new topic I want to read becomes very slow.

Cheers.

A few years ago @tank added slowdown code to the forum, such that after about 16 interactions with the forum at normal speeds, responses become delayed by a number of seconds. If you wait about 2 minutes, interactions with the forum speed up again. May be this is what you are experiencing?
My scripts:-
XRef - Produces Cross Reference lists for scripts
ReClip - A Text Reformatting and Clip Management utility
ScriptGuard - Protects Compiled Scripts from Decompilation
I also maintain Ahk2Exe

Thank you for your reply. Such might be the case, it's annoying.

Cheers.

Would somebody remove this silly 'protection mechanism' please, at least for well-known logged in users? A whitelist might help.

I've notified @tank to tone it down a bit. :geek:

Are you all really clicking so many links so rapidly?
that seems a real stretch
I made a minor adjustment but honestly, i would love to understand why slowing down more than 15 page loads in 2 minutes is too much

i only ever occasionally encounter this when using the advanced search, opening up a bunch of posts/threads, refining the search, rinse repeat
that hits the limit pretty fast but whatever. the throttling subsides after a while(not sure if its 2mins)

I generally avoid the forum search and stick with the google search when possible. Although I don't use it often, I haven't experienced a block/slowdown on the forum search yet.
