What it doesn't mention in its headline is that it's mainly an Excel macro exploit - the AHK part comes only when the user already made the main mistake to execute a unknown Excel macro (and could have been done with almost any other language than AHK).

Sorry I didn't mean to criticize AHK, I'll delete it

It's ok, people should be warned not to do careless things. I just didn't want to leave it standing there without any commentary.
Unfortunately, some bad actors have discovered the usefulness of AHK. It's not the first malware that (ab)uses AHK, though.

No worries. It could be deleted, but I think it's a valid topic. There is no need to censor that AHK gets also misused by bad people.
It's a reality we have to face and that we should be aware of.

btw, I was criticizing the headline of the article you linked to (which I have seen before in english), not the topic title.

In addition, this particular Excel macro exploit is not something new. It has been around for more than a year, if not longer. As has been mentioned, many other programming languages could of and have been used. Excel macro exploits and related malware that takes advantage of it have been around for a very long time.

Here is an article that kind of goes into how deep the problem is-
