I am looking to move all my work and personal files to a cloud desktop for anywhere access as well as automatic backup. However, the cloud desktop provider also has another similar offering called virtual desktop infrastructure. These Virtual Desktop VDIs - https://www.clouddesktoponline.com/microsoft-vdi/ - are supposed to be better than cloud desktops with more features but are costlier. Can those who have experience tell me if Virtual Desktop VDIs are really needed for work regulated tasks as well as watching movies and playing simple non 3D games.
Although they are pretty similar to the nature of services being provided, but the only difference is the deployment location. A Cloud desktop is a same as the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, but a Cloud desktop is hosted from the Virtual Data Centers, while the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is deployed on-premises.
