Blocked / access denied

Post by ChrissS » 07 Sep 2023, 14:22

Hello, I just want to report problems with visiting the forum. Everytime when I visit autohotkey.com, I am blocked by Cloudflare and it needs many reloads until the site is shown. Most of the times I give up... Or I begin to write a post and before I can submit, I'm blocked again. This is very annoying (and increases the data transfer on both sides). For me it looks like a misconfiguration because I am not evil when another subject made something bad from the same IP or with the same browser.

Not sure.... but maybe I could whitelist your IP. Send me a PM. :think:

@ChrissS
It could also have something to do with your browser, extensions can very often be the cause of site issues, either by accident due to the extensions being developed poorly etc, or because of bad intentions.

First open the forum in incognito (in the browser you use regularly) (Windows: Ctrl + Shift+ N, Mac: Command (⌘) + Shift + N.
If the browser has guest functionality (in Chrome found in Profiles, Windows: Ctrl + Shift + M, Mac: Command (⌘) + Shift + M).

If any of that fixes the issue, then the cause is likely one or more of your extensions. If disabling all of them doesn't fix the issue try another browser. If that fixes issue, turn the extensions back on one by one and try to find the culprit.

Thanks, please do so but it changes often. It should be found here: https://metrics.torproject.org/bubbles.html#no-group-exits-only
But instead of whitelisting it would be easier NOT to blacklist IPs...

Yes and no. It has something to to with arbitrary exclusion of a browser. The browser is fully capable of all HTML-standards.

If I remember correctly, Tor access is not allowed for new users (low post count). So no surprise that you had problems.
Moderator logs say that Tor is 'not allowed by new or unregistered guest'. Probably you were sometimes lucky because the Tor blocking isn't perfect.

Yes sorry, TOR is specifically disallowed. Please refer to the following:

I meant in terms of extensions or VPNs… not web standards

Other that the Tor thing: Cloudflare tries to protect the host depending on the security level set. It has no issues with false positives, al long as the big market share browsers pass.
I use a <0.1% market share browser, which gets blocked by Cloudflare are soon as the target site enables "I'm under attack" mode. Cloudflare has been aware for over a year, says it's not on purpose, but can't be bothered to fix it.

OMG :facepalm:
A lot of spam is coming from Windows PCs. Windows should be disallowed.
