AHK2Exe could not copy the compiled file - strange happending

20 Feb 2023, 06:19

Dear all,
I got t his error which wasdiscussed in extenso in this forum viewtopic.php?f=14&t=59817&p=268134&hilit=ahk2exe+could+not+copy#p268134.
There are no access restrictions: all files show "everyone has full control". I worked in a directory E:\_DDDprojects\FM-BuildTB\InstallThis
So I copied the ahk source file and subdirs to another drive (D:\) and there it worked as expected.
Coming back to the original location and doing the compile again: no problem any more!

I did not notice any hidden activity of Windows 10 (virus scan or such) during the time the compile failed - it's a mystery.
Nevertheless I'm happy that it was not a severe problem...

@kdaube
As indicated in the error message, these sorts of problems can be caused by antivirus activity at the wrong time. Ahk2Exe has changed a lot since the time of the message you linked.

Cheers

Yes, TAC109 that was the cause. Yesterday I had the same problem and discovered lots ot entries in the Protection History in the Windows Security settings:
Threat blocked: Win32/Contebrew.A!ml → this file does not exist on my computer, not on C:, not on other drives. It must be an interpretation of the Defender.
Affected item: file: I:\!_Downloads\Inst-FMbuildTB.exe → The file just compiled.

But then, after A while I could compile correctly. This emphasises your note caused by antivirus activity at the wrong time.
I will have to exclude my AHK2EXE process from the Virus scans... (Windows Security > Exclusions)

I will have to exclude my AHK2EXE process from the Virus scans
It is best to exclude as a process. This then protects the work files as well.
