Getting started (Windows 10)

30 Jun 2023, 09:25

[I thought this would be a FAQ, but I have searched and found no relevant discussion; if there is one, please point me to it]

I have been happily using AHK for many years, with a fairly basic script to automate tying common words or phrases.

I just checked for a new version and found v1 is deprecated, so I downloaded v2 and installed it.

When I reboot my laptop, v1 sill loads.

How do I complete the transition from v1 to v2, retaining my script?

You don't. V1 and V2 can coexist. A script written in v1 uses the v1 interpreter; v2 uses the v2 interpreter. There is no need to change anything, though you have the option of rewriting your script using v2 syntax. Your new scripts can also use v2 without any difficulty if you write them with v2 syntax.
