Re: AHK Compiler <error>
@HotKeyIt Hi, I am having the same issue (checking compression results in The following variable name contains an illegal character:"?). It's a fresh copy of ahkdll-v1-release on GitHub. I launched Ahk2Exe.ahk with AutoHotkeyA.exe since there is no file named Ahk2Exe.exe in the compiler folder. What might be the issue?
Re: AHK Compiler <error>
I have updated Compiler and executables, also included AutoHotkeyA.exe and Ahk2Exe.exe (this must be Unicode version).
Please try again.

Re: AHK Compiler <error>
When I run Ahk2Exe.exe it still reports illegal character. Also tried launching Ahk2Exe.ahk with AutoHotkeyU.exe with the same error.
However I seem to have found the cause of the issue, when I change [Language for non-Unicode programs] to "English (United States)" everything is working.
Re: AHK Compiler <error>
I have the same issue occurring 'illegal character UInt' when executing ahk2exe.exe.
I also tried to run the script 'ahk2exe.ahk ' with many versions of autohotkey.exe, and I found that ahk2exe.ahk can be run normally with ansi versions of autohotkey.exe. With wide versions, not worked.
Since I am using Windows10 in unicode langage, I need to use the wide version.
I hope this information helps to fix ahk2exe.
I used autohotkey_h of version 1.1.33.10.
