A real server

My wish for this forum is for it to be hosted on a functional server. The current one has down time and, persistently and repeatedly, inadequate response time. What would it take to resolve that?

the current issues are entirely related to issues with certificate authorities and are inpacting large and small allike in various ways

So why not work with an authority that has working certificates? What would it take? Does the foundation lack the funds? Use of other Web sites suggests that some authorities are not associated with this problem.

i will let you know when other large tech companies figure it out too. I have no idea why you havent noticed the other impacted companies but this is not a money problem. it isnt just one provider. this was a massive event starting on the 30th

try understand that there was a change in how certs validate and which versions of encryptions are done. the certificate handshake is a complicated subject and I am not going to try and explain it here. you can google how TLS handshakes if you want to know.
If i had to guess i think it was greatly underestimated the scale of impact by the CA's and many are timing out.

A paid certificate (like digicert or another one). But since a maximum SSL/TLS certificate validity is now one year, you need to renew and buy it every year (or buy a plan over years - still needs to be renewed once a year)



Or we find a company that donates to AHK (NPO - nonprofit organization) and/or provides AHK with something for free. Open-Source Fundraising

So you are saying that the problem with timeouts relates to the difference between a paid cert and a free cert? Why or how does an expired cert lead to a server timeout?

I appreciate all of the replies. The problem I have seen is intermittent but frequent timeouts over the past many months, along with page loads that can last up to 30 seconds or so; I reported it once quite a while ago. I see this from multiple locations at my end, regardless of Web browser, and only at this site, not the dozens of other Web sites that I use, including my own. I did read about the big outage recently, but based on the information above, I am not convinced that the problem that I have seen is related to it.

unrelated to this latest incident over the past few months there have been server upgrades and updates configuration changes the firewalls in a network outage at our mustang provide. I understand how the timing of these all seem related but they were all independent to each other.

while it is true that there are expensive paid certificate issues I question the basis of your statement that they are working any better given the major tech companies that have been impacted by the updates to the supported standards of TLS. but for the record let's encrypt all the free is the largest certificateish word in the world

The issue persists. It sounds like the implication is that this issue will be resolved when the global certificate issue is resolved. Thank you.
