bug reports

31 Aug 2023, 13:25

I am subscribed to "bug reports" forum topic. BUT,
this topic is within forum "Autohtkey (v2, current version)".

I don't not want to read any V2 bug reports. I have no interest in V2--not until I can find doc on All the changes that need to be made to V1 code, which, apparently will never exist. (but, that is another story.)

Why is there not a SEPARATE forum for V1 bug reports?

I cannot speak for the author, but my understanding is that v1 is deprecated and is undergoing only critical fixes.

The V2 documentation is complete in both its main areas and the changelog.

I guess if the bug fixer wanted separate forums, he would have created them - some v1 and v2 bugs are related anyway.
You can still report v1 bugs in that forum, but please clearly mark them as such. Since lexikos' focus is clearly on v2 now, I wouldn't expect more than critical v1 fixes, though.

thanks.... don't know if I'd ever get to v2. 50000 lines of v1 code and i'm 72!!!

again, wish needed changes were summarized. Wading through code and "DISCOVERING" necessary changes seem too laborious at this stage.

@joefiesta Just out of pure curiosity - what's the purpose of your "50000 lines of v1 code" -> what does this gigantic script actually do?!

If there was a "Bug Reports v1" forum, I would not visit it.

That is not to say that I am against the addition of such a forum, but consider what it would mean for everyone else.

@emp00 :

50000 lines is not a single script. It is hundreds of scripts.

Hi @joefiesta,

congratulations, I'm 72 too. I've converted all of my scripts which are already published as v2 versions manually (respectively using my eyes, my brain, and my hands). I suggest to start with short and simple scripts. The more you successfully convert to v2, the more familiar the new version becomes.

Good luck, just me
